Job description

We are looking for an experienced Head of Accounts which has an aspiration to become a Chief Financial Officer in a short period of time. The candidate should be based in Europe, preferentially Cyprus where our Headquarters are located. The new Head of Accounts should be ready to take responsibility for a company's past and present financial situation, and become an integral part of a company's financial future.

As a key member of the Executive Team, Head of Accounts will report to the CEO and assume a strategic role in the overall management of the company.


The Head of Accounts will have primary day-to-day responsibility for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all financial-related activities of the company. This will include direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, job costing, legal, property management, deal analysis and negotiations, investor relationships and partnership compliance and private and institutional financing.

Job Duties

1. Strategy
• Assess organisational performance against both the annual budget and the company's long-term strategy.
• Create, coordinate, and evaluate the financial programs and supporting information systems of the company including budgeting, tax planning, mergers and acquisitions.
• Approve and coordinate changes and improvements in automated financial and management information systems for the company.
• Evaluating long-term plans and introducing new programs and strategies.

2. Financial Planning and Analysis
• Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including Income Statements, Balance sheets, shareholder reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
• Prepare and maintain regular financial planning reports and cash flow forecasts.

3. Finance
• Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed.
• Oversee cash, investment, and asset management. Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships.
• Develop and utilise forward-looking, predictive models and activity-based financial analyses to provide insight into the organisation's operations and business plans.

4. Planning, Policy, and Investor Relations
• Coordinate the development and monitoring of budgets.
• Develop financial business plans and forecasts.
• Participate in corporate policy development as a member of the senior management team.
• Engage the finance committee of the board of directors to develop short-, medium-, and long-term financial plans and projections.
• Works with the Shareholders and other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.

6. Accounting Activities
• Prepare month-end, quarter-end and year-end financial statements.
• Review all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and corporate/overhead cost allocation.
• Enhance and implement financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems.

7. Corporate Development
• Represent the company in efforts with investment bankers and potential investors.
• Prepare various analyses and reports required by corporate development efforts Interact with other managers to provide consultative support to planning initiatives through financial and management information analyses, reports, and recommendations.
• Take the hands-on lead position of developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive job cost system.

Job Requirements

• Proven experience as Head of Accounts, minimum 2 years in a leading role, 5 years in total minimum
• In depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices
• Experience working in a Brokerage would be essential
• Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
• Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software
• Ability to strategize and solve problems
• Strong leadership and organizational skills
• Excellent management and supervisory skills.
• Excellent analytical and organisational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience of work with multiple foreign jurisdictions.
• Fluent spoken & written English Experience in strategic planning and execution.
• BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus
